When I came to Dr. Surpure, I had osteonecrosis of my jaw. He listened to what I had been going through for the last year and a half. I showed him my CT scan of my jaw 4 months before. He sent me that day to get a new CT scan. Which showed how my bone had deteriorated even more.
I was in surgery 3 days later. He saved my life. Follow-up visits with him had no wait time. He takes time to listen and is very compassionate.
My husband and I could not be more pleased with what he did for me.

I met Dr. Surpure at the end of July after my previous surgeon referred me to him. I had my wisdom teeth removed in April (a routine procedure) but after two failed debridements and being placed on muscle relaxers, I was still not getting any better and became overwhelmed with doubt that 1) nobody knew why I was not healing and 2) would I ever get better? I basically showed up to Dr. Surpure as a disregarded mistake of another surgeon but my prayers were answered as he immediately made me feel at ease that he would get to the bottom of this. He promptly got me in for a cat scan which is remarkable especially during COVID. I knew that my results could be pretty bad if I did in fact have osteomyelitis of the jaw bone because that means that I had been sitting around infected for the past 3 months. Dr. Surpure knew I was afraid and had the absolute best bedside manner I could have ever asked for. He was able to communicate to me in a way that made me feel like I could put my trust in him and especially as a 20 year old female living in Scottsdale, having a scar on my face and nerve damage potentially hindering my smile would greatly affect my own self-esteem. He got me scheduled in for surgery right away and checked on me during the four nights I had to stay at the hospital without any visitors. I remember waking up after surgery extremely swollen but I could smile and I felt healthier than I had in several months! He strategically placed the scar under my jaw bone which further proves how amazing of a surgeon he is not just because of his master technique but because he actually cared about how I would feel about myself. It has been about 3 months since my surgery with Dr. Surpure and I am amazed to report back that literally nobody even notices my scar! I can feel tingling sensations which means my nerves are healing and my smile is back on my face thanks to him. The empathy and compassion Dr. Surpure showed me throughout my surgery and after-care will stay with me for the rest of my life. I truly believe he was my guardian angel and all I can say is that you are in the best hands if Dr. Surpure is caring for you!!

I met Dr. Surpure in January 2018. Dr. Surpure saved my life. In June 2017, the dentist I had been going to since 2011 replaced an old filling with a crown. Immediately after getting that crown, I was in pain. In April 2017, I had started a new job, and the dentist was an hour drive each way. I returned many times in pain, and they said it looked okay. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving work so often and for so long, even though they were very understanding. After months of being in pain with no relief, I decided to switch to a dentist closer to home. Starting with a cleaning and exam, the new dentist did not see anything overly concerning with this tooth. Over the next few months, the pain worsened. First, the dentist decided to replace the crown. Leaving that appointment, I felt pain. After that, the pain was excruciating all of the time. In November 2017, I asked for the extraction of that tooth, and it was removed. The dentist placed an implant the same day. I returned almost weekly in pain, and a few weeks later, the dentist removed the implant due to infection. The pain continued, but I was told my body would fight the infection. I went back to the dentist weekly, feeling a stabbing pain in my chin. On January 2, 2018, I was given a referral to an oral surgeon. Initially, I received an appointment for January 15th, and after explaining I was in a lot of pain was moved up to January 8th. After doing an x-ray, the oral surgeon came in and told me I needed to go to the hospital. He called Dr. Surpure to have me seen right away. I am very thankful for that day, even though it was very emotional.

When I met Dr. Surpure, he was very straightforward about the situation’s seriousness and expectations. It was comforting that, for the first time in many months, I felt this nightmare could finally be over. The infection had spread to my jaw and required surgery. On top of everything else, my wedding was two months away. My face would be cut from the outside and stitched. Dr. Surpure said he would try to operate from inside my mouth but there could not be any guarantee. Dr. Surpure did a fantastic job completing the operation from inside my mouth, leaving only two small scars on the outside of my face. Since then, I have had two more successful surgeries to reconstruct my jaw. In every appointment before and after each surgery, Dr. Surpure has taken the time to explain the next steps, risks, and answered all questions at a level I can understand. I can never thank Dr. Surpure enough for all he has done for me, and I trust him fully”

Thank you!
